StandUpLD Assistive Technology Round Table Event

Please join us for a technology and resource roundtable event for students and parents. You and your student will have the opportunity to rotate through tables representing the latest in technology and advocacy resources for students with learning differences. This is a unique opportunity to see technology demonstrated and to ask questions.

Reading Tools
Reading tools assist students with decoding, fluency, and comprehension. All reading assistance
presented will use text to speech.
• Read & Write by TextHelp
Learn how this toolbar can read aloud documents, web pages, files and so much more!

• Audiobooks
Gain an overview of the various free and subscription services available for students to
gain access to textbooks and chapter books. Learning Ally, Bookshare, and Audible
with WhisperSync will be featured.
• Scanning Pen Demonstration

Math Tools
Math tools can assist students with computation,
Applications across platforms that support math fact practice as well as make homework more
accessible will be demonstrated.
Writing/Organization/Memory Tools
Tools for writing include those that help facilitate the physical act of writing through speech to
text as well as those that assist with spelling, punctuation, grammar and word usage (word
prediction technologies, etc.). The organization of writing can be facilitated using on-line
graphic organizers.

Note Taking & Organization technologies will be presented. LiveScribe when combined with a
notetaking system is a useful tool for older students and those transitioning to college.

Advocacy
The mission of StandUpLD is to educate parents about the resources available to them.
Representatives from the PATH project (a federally funded, free resource) will be available to
assist parents in understanding learning disabilities, learning about their rights and
responsibilities, and to help them partner with their local school districts to ensure the needs of
students are met.
